Chocolate Themed Games and Party Ideas

Liven things up with some old fashioned chocolate themed fun and evoke the nostalgia of your own childhood with our children’s party ideas.

But why should the adults miss out on all the fun?  If you love chocolate and like getting together with friends and family why not indulge in a little chocolatey fun and host a chocolate tasting party or test your love of chocolate with our chocolate Tasting party games.

For adults with younger children

Chocolate apple faces (young children’s activity/ party activity):

What you need: One eating apple threaded onto a wooden skewer for each child participating in the activity, melted chocolate, Rice cereal or chocolate vermicelli etc. for decorating, paper plates.

Coat the apples thoroughly in chocolate then dip the top of the apple into a bowl of Rice cereal or chocolate vermicelli to create the ‘hair’.  Create eyes, nose and a mouth from different assortments of sweets.  Place on a named paper plate and leave to one side to set.  Send children away with their edible creations at the end of the party.

For older children – those 9 and over

The Chocolate Game

Evoke nostalgia with this children’s classic party game of old, full of fun and excitement, requiring only a wrapped bar of chocolate, a plate, a knife and fork, some dressing-up items (at least a hat, scarf and gloves) and two dice

How to play:
Put the bar of chocolate on the plate with the knives and forks nearby and sit the children around it in a circle. Throw the pile of dressing up clothes into the circle. Give one child the dice.

Children take it in turns to roll the dice on the floor in front of them, passing them around the circle to their left. If a child rolls a double, they leap into the centre of the circle, put on the dressing up clothes, and start to unwrap, then eat, the bar of chocolate - but only using the knife and fork. That child keeps going until another child rolls a double, at which point they must co-operate in handing over the dressing up clothes so that the next child gets a turn.

Hints:
This game can get very rowdy as doubles sometimes come thick and fast! Be prepared to  change the rules if nobody is getting a chance to eat any chocolate, perhaps using only double 3, double 4, and double 5.

Hosting a chocolate tasting party can be a fun way to get together with friends and family.

Here’s what to do:

Decide who to invite and send out invitations

Buy some chocolate! Limit yourself to 8-10 different chocolate varieties at the most as any more than this might run the risk of your party guests feeling a little over indulged by the end of the evening (yes, you can have too much of a good thing!).  Allow roughly 2 small squares of each chocolate per person.

At the party: follow and share our chocolate tasting tips with your guests.  You might like to fill in a scoring sheet and note down what the chocolate tastes like to you.  Think about what it reminds you of, what the texture is like, the different flavours you experience and award each chocolate a score out of 10.

Once you’ve tasted all the different chocolates have fun sharing and contrasting what each of you has written about them.

Add up all the final scores and find out if there is a clear winner!!
